How we run design subscriptions without losing our minds

The async setup that keeps us (and our clients) sane.

We kept seeing the same pattern: smart teams that needed senior design help — but didn’t have the time (or patience) for big briefs, long meetings, or endless revision loops.

They didn’t need a full rebrand. Just a way to move forward.

So we started offering design subscriptions. Light on overhead, heavy on progress. Here’s how we run them — and why they’ve become one of our favorite ways to work.

The sigh we kept hearing

You know that moment when a founder DMs something like:

“Hey... any chance you could just quickly help us fix this thing?”

That’s the moment this model is made for.

The messy middle. The shifting roadmap. The 47 open tabs and no clear next step.

Most teams don’t need a full agency sprint.
They need someone who can jump in, catch up fast, and help make things click — without starting from zero.

How we keep it flowing

Here’s how it works behind the scenes:

  • You get a set number of hours each month. No guessing, no chasing invoices.
  • You drop priorities wherever you live — Trello, Notion, Slack, sticky notes. We’re tool-agnostic and meet you where you are.
  • We check in once a week. Async updates, quick huddles, or the occasional Loom when things get spicy.
  • You talk directly to us. No account managers, no bottlenecks. Just design, moving forward.

It’s intentionally light — low lift for you, low stress for us.
We stay in sync, even if your week’s a little messy.

Why It Works

It works because we’re already inside your flow.

No big kickoff call. No “who’s doing what?” confusion. No calendar Tetris just to book a sync.

Here’s what really makes the difference:

  • Context sticks. We’re not starting from zero each week.
  • Priorities stay real. You get to shift focus as needed — we just roll with it.
  • Stuff gets done. Not someday. Not “when the sprint wraps.” Now-ish.

It’s steady progress without the weight.

Heads up: it's not for everyone

This setup works great if:

  • You know what you need help with (even if it changes weekly)
  • You’re done with endless check-ins and back-and-forth
  • You want solid design without the agency fanfare

But if you need deep strategy, a big rebrand, or a full-service crew — this isn’t it.
That’s a sprint. Or a workshop. (We love those too.)

Who this is perfect for

Design subscriptions work best for teams who need an extra brain (and pair of hands) on call — without hiring full-time.

We’ve done this with:

  • Founders juggling product, growth, and brand
  • Teams in between hires who still need stuff moving
  • Agencies who want to loop in a design partner without the overhead

It’s for when things are already in motion — and you just need someone to jump in and keep it rolling.

Heads up:
